Jerry Perkins has received the Media Excellence Award of 2014 from the American Coalition for Ethanol. Perkins is the editor of BioFuels Journal and was The Des Moines Register's farm editor from 1993 to 2008.

Nicole Gebhart, vice president and marketing director of Ames National Corp., has graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, a 25-month banking school that provides senior management and leadership education for community-banking professionals.
