(830 a.m. ET) Canadian building permits for December. They are forecast to rise 5 per cent.

(830 a.m ET) U.S. nonfarm payrolls report. Consensus is for 231,000 net new jobs, with the unemployment rate holding steady at 5.6 per cent. Average hourly earnings are expected to rise 0.3 per cent.
