Czech policy maker Jiri Rusnok is an “excellent” candidate to lead the central bank after Governor Miroslav Singer’s term ends in July next year, President Milos Zeman said on Friday.

The Czech Republic should seek to join the euro area even as the current government is refusing to set a target date for ditching the koruna currency, Zeman, 70, said in an interview. The country’s first directly elected head of state, in office since March 2013, holds the sole right to pick rate setters.
