And here’s Gordon Strachan:

I’m glad I’m going home. I’ll go home, feet up, watch the telly, and look back at our two games. I’ll look at them, look at the performances, and go, yep, that was terrific. Gibraltar take all the credit. Their attitude was great, played the game the right way, scored their first goal. It’s been a not bad day. It was hard work for some of the players, so I’m just glad to get it out the way.

I thought some of them were quite pacey. Some of them were strong. Some of our players, who against more exalted opposition have played terrifically well, were effected. I would say I’m upbeat about our chances. After five games in a real hard group, to be where we are is not bad.

Two good wins. Northern Ireland were impressive, and Lafferty’s opener was excellent. The only question for Scotland was always going to be the margin of victory, and it was sufficient in the end. Talking of which, here’s the post-match reaction of their hat-trick hero, Steven Fletcher:

It’s fantastic. I’m happy. We got the three points but the three goals mean a lot, because it’s been a while since I scored, so I’m delighted. I’ve been trying to put in the performances, give 100%, and everything came off for me. Any goal for my country makes me proud, but a hat-trick is a fantastic achievement, I’ll cherish it. We were massive favourites, everyone expected us to win it, so it was important that we got an early goal.

When they scored it was a bit of a kick in the teeth, but we got back on track. We’ve got a lot of confidence, a great group of lads, and hopefully we can take that into the summer.

This is what Scotland’s Group D looks like, after the final whistle:

90+5 mins: Rhodes misses from six yards! After a bit of penalty-area pinball there’s a shot from 20 yards that rolls straight to the feet of Rhodes, six yards out, unmarked and in the middle of goal. He spins but his shot is weak, and Robba falls on it.

90+3 mins: What a miss from Fletcher, who should have had four! Bannan takes a free-kick from the left, five yards from the touchline. He pulls it low to Fletcher, who escapes from his marker and meets the ball 15 yards out, but his shot is wild and wide!

90+3 mins: Meanwhile in Scotland, where there have been a couple of injuries in the second half, we’re half-way through six minutes of stoppage time, and Scotland are pushing for more.

Final score: Northern Ireland 2-1 Finland

90+4 mins: It’s a terrible corner, overhit beyond everybody, and when it’s booted clear the referee blows his whistle, and Northern Ireland’s victory is complete!

90+3 mins: In the final minute of stoppage time at Windsor Park, and Finland have a corner, with the tension rising!

GOAL! Scotland 6-1 Gibraltar (Fletcher, 90 mins)

Fletcher has a hat-trick, Scotland’s first since 1969! He gets the ball on the edge of the penalty area, sizes the situation up and then passes the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

GOAL! Northern Ireland 2-1 Finland (Sadik, 90 mins)

A low shot from the edge of the area goes straight down the middle of goal and into Carroll’s chest, but he sends the ball right back into trouble, and Sadik scores with ease!

89 mins: From the free-kick, just outside the right-hand corner of the penalty area, Bannan shoots at the near post, and Robba pushes the ball over the bar.

88 mins: Joseph Chipolina and Daniel Duarte combine to take out Hutton in a scissor movement on the edge of the penalty area. Oof!

87 mins: And then a chance! The ball is pumped forward to Fletcher, who nods to Rhodes, whose first-time shot stings Jamie Robba’s palms and then falls to Fletcher, who is by now offside.

86 mins: Ooh, there’s a drop-ball in Glasgow. I didn’t see what led to it, but we all like a drop ball, don’t we?

82 mins: Bardon’s game is over, and Daniel Duarte replaces him. Elsewhere, Albania have scored twice in four minutes to turn a one-goal deficit into a 2-1 lead against Armenia.

80 mins: Another delay in Glasgow, with Bardon receiving quite lengthy treatment to a problem with his right leg. He doesn’t look particularly vexed by it all, but a stretcher has now been brought on.

78 mins: Ooof! Another booking at Windsor Park, after Dallas fails to stop the ball from going out of play and then is fouled, off the ball and indeed off the pitch, by Arajuuri.

GOAL! Scotland 5-1 Gibraltar (Fletcher, 77 mins)

Rhodes is played in on the right, and Fletcher rises highest (not much competition here) to head low and in at the far post!

74 mins: No second-half goals so far in any of the five Euro 2016 qualifiers being played at the moment. Northern Ireland’s prospects of further bothering the scorers are looking diminished with Lafferty on the floor and receiving treatment for something or other.

73 mins: A double change in Glasgow: Gibraltar take off Roy Chipolina and bring on Jake Gosling, while Scotland take off Ikechi Anya and bring on Barry Bannan.

73 mins: Ward has loads of space on the right when he’s found, on the half-way line, but Northern Ireland aren’t committing many people to attacks and he has little option but to take the ball to the edge of the penalty area and shoot himself, but his effort is blocked.

69 mins: Pohjanpalo gets a booking of his own, for leaping to challenge Gareth McAuley for a header long after McAuley had actually won the header and with the ball nowhere near.

67 mins: Northern Ireland have a second player booked, Chris Brunt being penalised for not doing anything really to Pohjanpalo.

66 mins: More bad news for Baird, who has to leave the field to get some blood washed off a bleeding elbow.

61 mins: Terrible miss from Fletcher! Hutton steams down the right and crosses, and Fletcher I think tries a clever finish and gets only the slightest contact on the ball, which bounces away to safety. A simple sidefoot would suffice, Steven!

60 mins: The weather in Belfast looks absolutely foul: high winds, and much rain. Finland win a corner, Carroll comes out to punch and, with Teemy Pukki in vaguely close attendance, rolls around a bit. Nothing serious.
