Thai baht could drop further this week

The Thai baht is expected to weaken further after it plunged to its lowest level in six years last week, while Thai stocks are likely to fluctuate due to domestic and external factors.

Kasikorn Bank has forecasted the Thai baht will likely drop to a maximum of THB35 baht for one US dollar. The Thai currency is susceptible to commodity demands, employment rates and trade figures.

Kasikorn Bank predicts the Thai stock market could fluctuate this week between 1,460 and 1,420 points.

The fluctuations are subject to several factors which include monetary policy, the US economic figures, the purchasing managers index (PMI) and the eurozone financial disruption in Greece, state media reported.
