A number of naive iPhone 7 owners have been convinced by an online prankster to drill a hole into their brand new device, in the hope of creating a 3.5mm headphone port.

A video, purporting to reveal a secret headphone jack in the newly released iPhone 7, has had more than 10 million views on YouTube.

The newly released iPhone 7 has generated a lot of comment worldwide for not having the usual 3.5mm hole for headphones.

Apparently, some gullible iPhone owners tried the DIY solution, leaving them red-faced and with a brand-new broken device.

"I found a perfect solution to this problem guys, it's a very simple tutorial just follow along," TechRax, aka Taras Maksimuk, tells viewers on the YouTube page.

In his page bio, Mr Maksimuk describes himself as someone who "specialises in smashing technology for your pleasure".

His other videos include microwaving iPhones and exposing iPhones to liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately for those owners desperate to plug in their old earpods, it seems they didn't read that far.
