Many people try and fail to make a career on the stage. But one cat has already made it to the top.

Internet sensation Grumpy Cat recently made her Broadway debut, appearing alongside the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats.

While appearing in this musical might seem appropriate for a famous feline, Grumpy Cat has since released a statement saying that while the appearance was an honour, she would have preferred a more famous role:

“Being selected as the first real cat to perform in Cats on Broadway was an honour. I hated it,” the statement read.

“If I’m really being honest, I would have preferred to play the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.”

Actor Quenton Early Darrington, who plays Old Deuteronomy in the current Broadway cast of Cats, introduced the pussy to the audience after the performance.

Quite suitably, Grumpy Cat did not appear to enjoy the appearance, despite posing for photos with some of the cast.

This is not the first time Grumpy Cat has made it to the big time - she has already featured in a movie, comic book and her very own novel.
