Allan Dixon is living the online dream.

This modern adventurer is travelling the world with his GoPro all the way to New Zealand, taking funny photos and making a living out of it.

"I post a photo and then my phone explodes. People are just so overjoyed with getting to see such a beauty or such a moment or capturing such fun in life," he says.

Dixon is the king of the animal selfie, cramming himself into the photo frame with the animals and posting them on Instragram.

"A picture with a cute animal is funny, but when you put a funny face beside it, it's like a connection, and that is what drew people together," he says.

His photos are hugely popular, with 318,000 following his every snap.

For the last six months the Irish Canadian has been based in Queenstown, travelling the South Island.

He says his face and photos are recognisable even here.

"Sometime people will come up to me and go, 'aw you are that Dixon guy  wait I recognise your face, you take selfies of animals!"

So what tips has he got if you want to be an online superstar?

"Just go out there and start capturing how your eye sees it, upload it and upload it consistently," he says.

Capturing the best New Zealand has to offer and instagramming it around the world.
