Waikato business puts head in the cloud

It was a full house recently at an informative lunch event on the benefits of cloud IT services and how to accelerate Waikato business success in an increasingly digital environment.

Held at the Gothenburg Restaurant on the river last week it was hosted by local cloud IT company Dynamo6, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The guest speaker was ICT Manager Tainui Group Holdings, Helaman Tangiora.

The event presented ways to manage the ever increasing demands on IT systems by moving infrastructure to the cloud, as a cost-effective and reliable platform for growth.

Igor Matich, Managing Director Dynamo6, said the Waikato is an innovative region punching above its weight so it shouldn’t be held back by dated and cumbersome IT infrastructure:

“This region has a huge opportunity – we have a growing population thanks to people moving in, a wide variety of businesses and sectors, and a creative approach to agriculture, manufacturing, services and information technology.

“Scaling a business whether you are selling locally, nationally or internationally needs the best IT, so you can do business anywhere, anytime and on any device. Being flexible, agile and cost effective is vital for success,” he says.

“This is where cloud technology plays a central role. It allows business to move away from the upfront risk of investing in fixed server based technology, to flexible software as a service technology with ongoing regular expense – just like leasing instead of buying a car.

“It also removes complicated infrastructure management that adds little value, and allows businesses to grow without capacity limits,” he says.

Fifty guests attended the event from industries and sectors including agriculture, construction, education, health, technology and legal.

Guest speaker Helaman Tangiora introduced the experience of Tainui Group Holdings having changed to a 100 per cent cloud based operation. In doing so it has set the future direction of its tribal business by embracing the digital delivery of services.

Dynamo6 is the only Waikato based partner of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the fastest growing subsidiary of amazon.com, the well-known international e-commerce company.

Dynamo6 uses digital solutions to make businesses better and specialises in cloud, mobile and web development solutions. Established solely as a cloud services provider it helps people and organisations work smarter, faster and more cost-effectively, while being better connected, anytime, anywhere. Established in Hamilton, Dynamo6 also has an office in Auckland.
