No multimillion dollar business leader can succeed without their team, says Gerard Knight, the general manager for Radisson Blu Resort Fiji.

Mr Knight is a finalist for the Tourism Leader award in this year’s ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

The awards will be held this Saturday at the Sheraton Fiji’s Convention Centre in Denarau, Nadi.

Mr Knight holds a hospitality management degree trained from the United Kingdom.

He has dedicated about 30 years of his life in the management and finance roles within the tourism industry.

This experience has been in the United Kingdom, Australia and recently Fiji.

“I have spent 18 years with Carlson Rezidor group and was general manager of the Radisson Resort Gold Coast property for eight years before being transferred to Fiji in 2012,” Mr Knight said.

He is now going into his fifth year managing the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji.

“Clearly this nomination, which I was totally unaware of until Wednesday, is recognition for the amazing team at Radisson Blu Resort Fiji who have achieved so much in the past few years.

“Achievements both in terms of guest service results with our second successive award as number one family resort in Fiji by the Trip Advisor Travellers Choice awards but also for the amazing community work achieved by the resorts ‘Adopt a School’ programme.”

Mr Knight said he hoped this nomination would boost the opportunities for all the team at the resort.

He said: “This team includes many spectacular Fijian leaders and their willingness and enthusiasm to deliver outstanding results makes working with them rewarding in its own right.”
