Barcelona confirm Neymar will miss El Clasico against Real Madrid after appeal over suspension fails

The Barcelona star was sent off during in the clubs defeat to Malaga and has failed in his effort to repeal the suspension.

BARCELONA  have announced Neymar is unavailable for selection for the Clasico against Real Madrid.

The Brazilian received two yellow cards in the Catalans defeat to Malaga earlier this month, he was originally handed a one-game ban before being given an additional two matches for sarcastically clapping the officials as he left the pitch.

After many days of uncertainty the Spanish Football federation have announced that they have rejected the Brazilians appeal.

Spain's Court of Arbitration (TAD) were not able to deal with the case over the weekend but warned Barca would be sanctioned for selecting Neymar.

In a statement they said "Against the uncertainty due to the lack of reply from TAD with 12 hours to go until the game, and to focus all attention on sporting matters, the club have opted not to call up Neymar, However, Barcelona expresses its amazement at TAD's refusal to exercise its jurisdictional functions, something which directly damages both the clubs and the competition itself."

Ex-Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan is set to replace Neymar at the Bernabeu as he has now recovered from injury.
