Real Madrid defender Danilo has left the Spanish side’s training base in the United States and is set to tie up his £26million move to Manchester City before the end of the weekend.

Los Blancos are training at the UCLA university campus ahead of Sunday night’s meeting with Manchester United at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco.

City are also in Los Angeles, and the Brazilian defender is now expected to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches on his move.

The former Porto man will challenge another new signing, Kyle Walker, for the right-back slot, but is also seen by Pep Guardiola as versatile enough to be used in other positions also - including central midfield.

Ral Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane confirmed Danilo's exit, telling reporters on Saturday: "He has gone now.”

The 26-year-old had also been linked with a move to both Chelsea and Juventus, having failed to dislodge Dani Carvajal as first choice in the Spanish capital.

Danilo’s agent has flown to the States to get the deal completed, with the player expected to ink a five-year deal at the Etihad.

City expect to off-load Fabian Delph who is in talks with Stoke about a permanent move and Wilfred Bony, who could return to Swansea.

Aleksandar Kolarov is leaving City’s tour of the US to finalise his move to Roma.
