Qatar slammed today a decision made by the Israeli Government to establish a new settlement in West Bank’s northern occupied city of Nablus.

In an official statement, the Qatari foreign ministry described the decision as “a flagrant violation to the international legitimacy resolutions and a blatant attack over the Palestinians’ rights.”

The statement stressed that the continuation of the Israeli violations “would undermine the international efforts exerted to achieve the two-state solution.”

The ministry called on the international community to compel Israel to stop its settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

On Sunday, the Israeli government approved a 60 million-shekel ($16.7 million) plan for the construction of Amichai settlement as an alternative to the Amona Jewish outpost, which was evacuated a few months ago.

According to Israel’s Channel 7, the plan’s funds will be transferred to the Binyamin Regional Council in order to resume the construction of the settlement.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law as they are built on land stolen from the Palestinians. Such land is earmarked for a future Palestinian state.
