ANZ Investments’ KiwiSaver schemes awarded Platinum ratings

16 November 2017

ANZ Investments’ KiwiSaver schemes awarded Platinum ratings for 4th consecutive year

Independent research firm SuperRatings has awarded Platinum ratings to all three of ANZ Investments’ KiwiSaver schemes for the fourth year in a row. Platinum is the highest rating awarded by SuperRatings.

ANZ Managing Director of Wealth Craig Mulholland said: “Receiving the Platinum ratings for all three of our KiwiSaver schemes is recognition that not only do we consistently deliver strong, long-term investment performance to our members, but we are a leader in terms of the service we provide our members.”

The Platinum ratings were awarded to the ANZ KiwiSaver Scheme, the ANZ Default KiwiSaver Scheme and the OneAnswer KiwiSaver Scheme.

All three schemes also ranked in SuperRatings’ top ten for returns over a five-year period, net of fees and tax, in the Conservative and Growth categories.

SuperRatings said the purpose of the Platinum awards is to identify schemes that stand out in terms of their value offering for members. The schemes are assessed on five key factors, including investment, fees, member servicing, scheme administration and governance.

SuperRatings CEO Kirby Rappell said: “Schemes awarded a platinum rating are those that SuperRatings considers are best placed to deliver value for members and enhance retirement outcomes relative to their peers.”

Mr Mulholland said that “ANZ Investments is pleased that SuperRatings shares our view that focusing only on the lowest fees creates the danger that members overlook returns after fees to the detriment of their long-term savings growth.”

SuperRatings is an independent research company. This year it looked at 29 KiwiSaver schemes, with the Platinum rating only awarded to eight schemes, three of which are managed by ANZ Investments.
“Choosing the right KiwiSaver scheme provider is one of the most important investment decisions New Zealanders will make when it comes to their retirement savings,” Mr Mulholland said. “Independent ratings such as these should help people make a more informed decision about investing their retirement savings.”

ANZ Investments is one of only a few providers whose KiwiSaver schemes have consistently been awarded top honours since SuperRatings began releasing its annual review of the KiwiSaver industry four years ago.

ANZ Investments is New Zealand’s largest KiwiSaver scheme provider, managing over $11 billion for more than 720,000 members.
