Thailand provides humanitarian assistance to Iran

Following the recent 7.3 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter in Halabjah, northeastern part of Iraq close to the border with Iran on 12 November 2017. The earthquake caused massive damage to the province of Kermanshah in Iran with more than 500 lives were lost and thousands of injuries including damage to basic infrastructure and houses.

In response to this devastating earthquake, the Royal Thai Government contributed the amount of 2,000,000 Thai Baht (approximately 52,000 US Dollar) on humanitarian ground and served as an initial assistance to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the relief efforts.

The contribution from the Royal Thai Government will be handed to the Iranian Government through the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran. Thus far, there is no report of any Thai citizen has been affected by this earthquake.
