Ford Motor Company and its local distributor, Shreedhar Motors Limited yesterday pledged $30,000 grant to Rotary Pacific Water for Life.

This is to offer community services in the country.

The grant will allow Rotary Pacific to provide access to clean potable water and improved sanitation and hygiene to residents in two rural communities, in Naitasiri province. These includesWaisa and Vatunilose.

It will benefit close to 200 people, 37 households.

Shreedhar Motors Limited chief executive officer Arvin Narayan said each year they work with nonprofit organisation partners to help preserve the environmental wellbeing  of rural communities provide solutions for a better Fiji.

Ford’s Conservation and Environmental grants programme was founded in 1983 and has awarded more than $10 million to hundreds of environmental projects in more than 60 countries.

Fiji was included in 2013, since then Ford has been giving grants every year and total accumulated amount given so far is over $180,000.

Chairman for Rotary Pacific Water for Life John Lewis thanked Ford for the grant.

It is a non-profit organisation that provides water management systems, improved sanitation and hygiene to residents in remote areas.

They have been operating for 10 years. They have so far invested over $6.1 million to over 265 projects which benefited over 70,877 people.
