Ellie Goulding Picks Her Favorite Art for Sotheby's
Grammy-nominated singer Ellie Goulding can add a new title to her growing list of achievements offstage: art curator. The pop star and her beau, Caspar Jopling, have joined forces to cocurate their top picks from Sotheby's Contemporary Curated sale, which will be held in New York on March 2. Contemporary Curated features over 260 works spanning paintings to decorative objects and is designed for collectors to access more accessibly priced pieces from the postwar and contemporary periods. (Well, more reasonable than multimillion-dollar works on the block at the categories' respective evening sales.) Jopling—who works in corporate development and strategy for Sotheby's—and Goulding have distinct tastes, but a shared passion for art. After performing in Miami for Art Basel in December, Goulding spent days walking the fair with Jopling—perhaps eyeing new pieces for their already robust personal collection. Their SoHo apartment boasts works by Julie Mehretu, Raymond Pettibon, and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others. Though we can't all score an invite into the couple's private quarters, we sure can admire their artistic tastes.
