Air NZ kicks off filming its next, Kiwi-as safety video

Air New Zealand kicks off filming its next, Kiwi-as safety video with 500 strong cast of local talent

The largest cast in Air New Zealand safety video history will hit New Zealand’s streets this weekend as the airline starts filming a new homegrown edition, for release later this year.

Scenes starring Kiwi actor Julian Dennison, and local musicians Kings, Theia and Randa will be shot in central Wellington today. The population of the tiny township Naseby in Central Otago will triple when the action shifts south on Sunday.

The airline will also shoot at locations in Dunedin, Hokitika, Balclutha and South Auckland with more than 500 Kiwis from community sporting, performance and interest groups – including the Rewa Allstars dance crew, Mosgiel Brass Band and curlers from Dunedin and Naseby.

Air New Zealand General Manager Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams says the airline is excited to highlight homegrown Kiwi talent of all kinds from across the country.

“This safety video will be all about celebrating our unique Kiwi culture while recognising the diverse community groups who make up New Zealand. It’s fantastic to bring together hundreds of local legends alongside well-known talent Julian, Kings, Theia and Randa.

“While we usually keep plans for our safety videos top secret, this next video is all about Kiwi pride and we wanted to give eagle-eyed fans a chance to see the magic unfold. We’re also working on an A-list soundtrack produced by Josh Fountain of Auckland’s Golden Age Studios – the creative team behind Grammy-winning local and international artists,” says Ms Williams.
